Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a   recent ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization  as of 3/22/15 and a summary of recent Dow 30 components'  SEC filings as of 3/22/15.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Monday at 17976.31 up 263.65 or 1.49%  from Friday's close of 17712.66. Of the Dow components 28  gained  and 2  declined. The  biggest gainer dollar-wise  and percentage-wise was Boeing up $3.85 or 2.59%. The  biggest decliner dollar-wise and percentage-wise was  Intel down 54 cents or 1.69%.

As of the open of  the market on Monday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page C4 of Monday's Wall St. Journal is 0.14985889030177.  Monday's trailing P/E   ratio is 16.63 up  from Friday's   trailing P/E ratio of 16.60 (last year it was 15.89).  Monday's P/E estimate is 16.30 unchanged from Friday's P/E estimate of 16.30 (year ago it was 14.74) and  Monday's dividend yield is 2.51 down from  Friday's dividend yield of 2.52  (last year it was 2.43). The Dow's all-time high was 18288.63 on March 2,  2015. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

3/30/15 Mon. 4:39 pm MarketWatch by Anora Mahmudova & Barbara Kollmeyer says
U.S. stocks advanced on Monday, with the main indexes booking solid gains for the second straight session, driven by dovish comments from China’s central-bank chief as well as a continued flurry of deal announcements. The S&P 500 SPX, +1.22%  closed 25.22 points, or 1.2%, to 2,086.24, with gains across the board. Energy stocks were the biggest winner, with the sector rising 2.1%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +1.49%  finished up 263 points, or 1.5%, to 17,947.44. Among the blue-chips, 28 of the 30 components ended with gains. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.15%  gained 56.22 points, or 1.2%, to 4,947.44“Today’s rally suggests investors still prefer aid from central banks to actual growth in the economy and are willing to bear above-average risks for below-average returns,” said Channing Smith, managing director at Capital Advisors. On Sunday, the PBOC governor said he saw “more room” for China to ease policy if the economy stays soft and inflation continues to weaken. On Monday, Chinese stocks closed at a seven-year high.“Investors had been worried about China’s slowing growth, so encouraging comments from their central bank lifted markets. And merger news also contributed to the sudden rush into stocks,” said Kate Warne, investment strategist at Edward Jones.“Stock markets tend to over-react to good and bad news. While it is positive that markets have once again showed resiliency and bounced back, I am not sure a 200+ gain on the Dow is warranted,” Warne said.Smith said that he’s taking a cautious approach to Monday’s run-up. “Our approach is to raise cash at this point. The higher stock market rises, the more conservative we get, given stocks are very expensive,” Smith added. Big week for data: The shortened week for investors will still see nonfarm-payrolls data arrive on Friday, when markets are closed. Investors assessed data on consumer spending and personal income. Continued softness in economic data has put the Federal Reserve into patient mode. On Friday, Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen said gradual hikes are likely this year, but that the central bank will move cautiously, speaking at a conference sponsored by the San Francisco Fed. U.S. consumers barely increased spending in February in another signal that the economy slowed in the first quarter. Personal incomes, meanwhile, rose for the fourth time in a five months and the saving rate climbed for the third straight month.Separately, pending home sales in February reached their highest level since June 2013, a trade group said Monday.Stocks to Watch: Shares of Catamaran Corp. CTRX, -0.15%   surged 24% after UnitedHealth Group Inc. UNH, +2.53%   said it would buy the pharmacy-benefit manager for around $12.8 billion in cash. UnitedHealth rose 3.4%.Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. TEVA, +0.84%   on Monday announced an agreement to buy Auspex Pharmaceuticals Inc. ASPX, +41.53%   in a deal valued at $3.2 billion. Auspex jumped 42%% to $100.36.Other markets: In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 index SXXP, +1.09% rallied Monday, with the benchmark rising 1%. U.S. crude-oil prices settled lower, falling 19 cents, or 0.4%, to close at $48.68 a barrel CLK5, -0.35% while gold prices  GCK5, -1.23%  closed lower for the second session, falling $15, or 1.3%, to settle at $1,184.80 an ounce. The dollar DXY, +0.61%   rose against major currencies.

The  biggest decliner dollar-wise was Apple down 99 cents and percentage-wise was  Chevron down 0.92%.

IBD pB9 "Stocks do little quietly, ending a negative week" by Paul Whitfield says stocks shifted sideways in quiet volume Friday as Friday's action was up in lower vol and the current outlook is uptrend under pressure.

A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.14985889030177) you get the change in today's Dow. 3/27/15 Fri. 4:39 pm MarketWatch by Anora Mahmudova & Sarah Sjolin says U.S. stocks broke a four-day losing streak by closing slightly higher on Friday, but still posted the biggest weekly loss since the end of January. The main indexes, which were barely in positive territory the entire session, rallied modestly in the last 15 minutes of trading after the release of prepared remarks by Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen on monetary policy. Yellen said that gradual rate hikes are likely this year but stressed that the central bank would move cautiously.“I expect that conditions may warrant an increase in the federal funds rate target sometime this year,” Yellen told a conference sponsored by the San Francisco Fed.The S&P 500 SPX, +0.24%  closed 4.87 points, or 0.2%, higher at 2,061.02, but lost 2.2% over the week. The benchmark index inched back into positive territory for the year after Friday’s modest gain. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.19%  ended the session up 34.43 points, or 0.2% at 17,712.66, but recorded a 2.3% decline over the past week. Transportation stocks were among the biggest losers this week, with the Dow Transportation Average DJT, +0.26%  losing 4.9%.The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.57%  added 27.86 points, or 0.6%, to 4,891.22. The tech-heavy index finished the week down 2.7%. Biotechnology stocks also took a beating this week, with the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF IBB, +1.95%  losing 5.2% over the week.Ahead of the opening bell, investors assessed the government’s final revision to fourth-quarter U.S. GDP, which remained unchanged at 2.2%. The report also showed that quarterly corporate profits over the same period fell for the first time since 2008.Analysts said that worries about sluggish corporate profits have weighed on sentiment. Jeff Carbone, founder and senior partner for Cornerstone Financial Partners, noted that an expected drop in corporate earnings in the fourth quarter is pointing to a sluggish economy.“The weakness over the past week was mostly driven by geopolitical concerns and worries over sluggish profit earnings. We will have to wait until the actual earnings season to find out whether it was weather-related or not,” Carbone said.“We still believe stocks will finish the year higher, but perhaps now is the time to rebalance portfolios,” he added.
