Post No. 2,095  The following is brought to you by Intellivest Securities Research, Inc. Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization as of 3/1/13 and recent Dow 30 components' SEC filings as of 3/1/13.

A read of the print editions of Monday's Barron's & Investor's Business Daily; the combined Sat/Sun issues of each of the Wall St. Journal &  Financial Times; Sat's  New York Times & Atlanta Journal Constitution yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Friday's stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

Dow Jones Industrial Average: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Friday at 14,514.11 down 25.03 or 0.17% from Thursday's close of 14,539.14. WSJ pB1 "Investros tap brakes on stocks" by E.S. Browning, Alexandra Scaggs says afer a streak of 10 straight gains the sent the Dow to a record investors pushed the sell button.  Home Depot fell $1.19, Walmart lost 72 cents.  JPMorgan was the biggest Dow loser down 98 cents after it was criticized by a Senate panel report.  Bank of America was the biggest Dow gainer rising 46 cents after the Fed approved its proposed capital plans.

Sat NYT pB7 "Dow ends 10 day climb as JPMorgan leads dip" by Reuters says the major stock indexes slipped Fri.  A decline in JPMorgan weighed ont he market. The Fed told JPMorgan and Goldman they must fix flaws in how they determine capital payouts to sharehodlers though the central bank approved their plans for share buybacks & dividends.  A Senate report criticized JPMorgan over the London Whale trades.

FT p11 "Stress test results weigh on JPMorgan and boost BofA" by Anora Mahmudova says bankign stocks were in focus as the Fed released its Comprehensive Capital and Analysis Review. Bank of America rose after it received approbal for a $5 bil buyback plan.

As of the close of the market on Friday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page B6  of Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.130216081. Friday's closing trailing P/E ratio is 15.79 down   from Friday's opening trailing P/E ratio of 15.99   (year ago it was 14.81); Friday's closing P/E estimate is 12.97 up  from Friday' s opening P/E estimate of 12.69 (year ago it was 12.83) and Friday's closing dividend yield is 2.45 unchanged from Friday's opening dividend yield of 2.45 (last year it was 2.47). The Dow's all-time high was 14,539.14 on March 14, 2013. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing numerator was 1,889.97 down.3.26 from Thursday's closing numerator of 1,893.23. This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.130216081) you get the change in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $7.68 change in the Dow Index.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $63 down 11 cents from Thursday's average of $63.11. The median closing price of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $56.22 (DIS/UNH) down 2 cents from Thursday's meddian closing price of $56.24. The lowest volume was Travelers and the highest volume again was Bank of America.

If Friday morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have lost $326 ($189,323 - $188,997).

3/15/13 Friday 4:10 pm MarketWatch by Kate Gibson says U.S. stocks retreated Friday, halting the longest advance by the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -0.17% in more than 16 years and containing the S&P 500 SPX -0.16% just as it neared its record close. "The market is looking for any excuse to take a breather. We've been heading up for a time, so this is just a pause," said Richard, or Chip, Cobb, a portfolio manager at BMT Asset Management in Bryn Mawr, Pa. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 25.03 points, or 0.2%, to 14,514.11, leaving it up 0.8% from the week-ago finish. The S&P 500 index SPX -0.16% fell 2.51 points, or 0.2%, to 1,560.72, leaving it 4.43 points from its record-high close and with a weekly rise of 0.6%. The Nasdaq Composite COMP -0.30% shed 9.86 points, or 0.3%, to 3,249.06, posting a weekly rise of 0.1%.
