Post No. 3,209 The following is brought to you by Intellivest Securities Research, Inc. Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a  recent ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization as of 6/9/15 and a summary of recent Dow 30 components'  SEC filings as of 6/9/15.

A  read of the print editions of  Monday's Barron's &  Investor's Business Daily; the combined Sat/Sun issues of each of the Wall Street Journal & Financial Times; & Saturday's New York Times & Atlanta Journal & Constitution yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Friday's  closing   stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Friday at 17898.84 down 140.53 or 0.78%%  from Thursday's close of 18039.37.  For the week the Dow was up 49.38 or 0.28% from last Friday's close of 17849.46. For the year the Dow is up %0.43. . Of the 30   Dow components    all 30  declined.  The  biggest decliner dollar-wise  was  3M down $1.82 and percentage-wise was Merck down 1.77%.

IBD pB8 "Stocks end week on a downer; IBD 50, small caps hang tough" by Ken Shreve says Friday's action was down in lower vol, while the current outlook is confirmed uptrend.

WSJ pB5 "Stocks fall on Greece worries" by Austen Hufford, Saumya Vaishampayan says US stocks declined due to whether Greece would be able to seal a bailout pact with its creditors.

FT p16 "Wall Street" says US stocks declined amid concerns on a Greek debt deal.

Sat. NYT pB2 "Greek crisis unnerves market, but a small gain for the week ends a slump" & Sat. AJC pA10 "Jitters upset stock markets" says a setback in Greece talks renewed concerns it could default.

As of the open of  the market on Monday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page B6 of  Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.14985889030177.  Monday's trailing P/E   ratio is 16.20 down from Friday's   trailing P/E ratio of  16.33 (last year it was 16.41).  Monday's P/E estimate is 16.12 up from Friday's P/E estimate of 16.00 (year ago it was 15.00) and  Monday's dividend yield is  2.37 up from Thursday's dividend yield of  2.33 (last year it was 2.71). The Dow's all-time high was 18312.39 on May 19,  2015. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average numerator is 2682.30  down 21.06  from Thursday's average numerator of 2703.36.   This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.14985889030177) you get the change in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $6.67  change in the Dow Index.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of  Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $89.41 down 70 cents  from Thursday's closing average of $90.11.  The median closing price of  Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $85.93 (XOM/CAT) down 70 cents  from Thursday's median closing price of $86.63 (XOM/CAT).  The lowest volume was Travelers  and the highest volume was Apple.

If  Friday   morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have lost $2,106 ($270,336 - $268,230).

6/12/15 Fri. 4:33 pm MarketWatch by  Anora Mahmudova & Barbara Kollmeyer Sjolin says
U.S. stocks closed lower on Friday, erasing what would have been weekly gains. Markets were under pressure following sharp selloffs in European equity markets as concerns over Greece’s debt drama intensified. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.70% closed 14.75 points, or 0.7%, lower at 2,094.11, finishing the week roughly where it started. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.78%  dropped 140.53 points, or 0.8%, to 17,898.84, but over the week it eked out a 0.3% gain. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.62%  ended the day lower, shedding 31.41 points, or 0.6% to 5,051.10 and lost 0.3% over the week.Quincy Krosby, market strategist at Prudential Financial, said nervousness among investors about possible Greek default was apparent from a rise in bonds prices.“Equities in Europe sold off, setting the tone for today’s trade because of news headlines. But even if Greece was not in the news, the Fed meeting is coming up next week and investors usually turn cautious ahead of such meetings,” Krosby said.Investors’ reaction to producer prices data ahead of the opening bell was muted, as a 0.5% jump in May matched forecasts.Speaking about the stock market outlook, Karyn Cavanaugh, senior market strategist at Voya Investment Management, said recent positive economic data will drive earnings in the second half of the year. “Markets will grind higher but there will be volatility when the Federal Reserve raises interest rates,” Cavanaugh said.“Janet Yellen is running out of reasons not to raise rates, so September hike seems very likely given recent data,” Cavanaugh said. Losses continued for Europe on Friday, with the Athens Composite index GD, -5.92%  down 5.9% and the Stoxx Europe 600 SXXP, -0.92%  dropping 0.9%. “The situation is approaching the point when Greece can’t pay the bills and the ‘institutions’ will have no choice but to provide debt relief or force the ‘Grexit’,” or a Greek exit from the eurozone, said Michael O’Rourke, chief market strategist at JonesTrading, in a note.
