A read of the print editions of Tuesday's Investor's Business Daily; the combined Sat/Sun issues of theWall St. Journal & Financial Times; and Saturday's New York Times & Atlanta Journal Constitution yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Friday's stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

FT p11 "S&P reverses earlier losses to hit 5 year high" by Anora Mahmudova says US equitymarkets recorded the 3rd straight weekly gain this year as investors reacted to a barrage of earnings results from large banks and ind'l bellwethers. GE rose 3.5% as it reported a strong rise in earnings, beating analysts' expectations. Intel reported results after the closng bell on Thurs with a 15% decline in 4Q profits causing shares to fall 6.3%.
IBD pB8 "nasdaq ducks distribution, as leaders stay on track" by Paul Whitfield says stocks traded in a tight range Fri but finished near the days high on expirations day. As of the close of the market on Friday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page C5 of Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.130216081. Saturday's trailing P/E ratio is 15.12 up from Friday's closing trailing P/E ratio of 15.01 (year ago it was 13.73); Saturday's P/E estimate is 12.28 up from Friday' s closing P/E estimate of 12.21 (year ago it was 12.05) and Saturday's dividend yield is 2.61 down from yesterday's opening dividend yield of 2.62 (last year it was 2.54). The Dow's all-time high was 14,164.53 on Oct. 9, 2007. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.
Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing numerator was 1,777.41 up 6.99 from Thursday's closing numerator of 1,770.42. This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator increase for today by the divisor (0.130216081) you get the increase in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $7.68 change in the Dow Index.
The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $59.25 up 24 cents from Thursday's average of $59.01. The median closing price of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $53.45 (DIS/UNH) up 2 cents from Thursday's median closing price of $53.43. The lowest volume was Travelers and the highest volume again was Bank of America.
If Friday morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have made $699 ($177,741 - $177,042).
