Post No. 2,931 The following is brought to you by Intellivest Securities Research, Inc. Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a   recent ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization  and a summary of recent Dow 30 components'  SEC filings.

A  read of the print editions of  Monday's  Investor's Business Daily & the combined Sat/Sun issues of each of the Wall Street Journal & Financial Times; & Sunday's New York Times &  Atlanta Journal & Constitution yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Friday's  closing   stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed  Friday at 17828.24 up 0.49 or 0.003% from Wednesday's close of 17827.75. For the year the Dow is up 7.6%.  Of the Dow components 21   gained and 9   declined. The biggest gainer   dollar-wise and percentage-wise was Walmart up $2.56 or 3.01%.  The biggest decliner dollar-wise and percentage-wise was Chevron down $6.24 or 5.42%.

IBD pB9 "Oil price screams lower, shaking up key sectors" by Paul Whitfield says for a post holiday session that was expected to be quiet, the oil patch made one heck of a ruckus in the stock market Friday.  Friday's action was missed in lower volume, half session.  The current outlook is a confirmed uptrend.

As of the open of  the market on Monday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page B6 of  Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.15571590501117.  Monday's trailing P/E   ratio is 16.93 up from Friday's   trailing P/E ratio of 16.92  (last year it was 16.52).  Monday's P/E estimate is 15.74 up from Friday's P/E estimate of 15.60 (year ago it was 15.02) and Monday's dividend yield is 2.20 up from  Friday's dividend yield of 2.16  (last year it was 2.17). The Dow's all-time high was 17828.24 on November 28,  2014. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average numerator is 2776.14 up 0.08  from  Wednesday's   numerator of 2776.06.  This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.15571590501117) you get the change in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $6.42 change in the Dow Index.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of  Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $92.54 unchanged from Wednesday's  average closing price of $92.54.  The median closing price of  Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $92.47  (AXP/DIS). The lowest volume was Travelers  and the highest volume was GE.

If  Friday morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have made  $8  ($277,614 - $277,606).

11/28/14 Fri. 1:41 pm MarketWatch by William Watts & Sara Sjolin says  U.S. stocks posted a mixed finish in a holiday-shortened session Friday as energy shares got slammed a day after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries did nothing to alleviate a global supply glut.
The S&P 500 SPX, -0.25%  ended the day down 5.27 points, or 0.3%, at 2,067.56 after touching an intraday record in early action. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.00%  eked out a gain of 0.49 point to end at 17,828.24, marking another record close. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.09%  held on to a 4.31 point increase to end at 4,791.63. U.S. markets were closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday and trading on Friday wrapped at 1 p.m. Eastern. “With Black Friday upon us, investors are in the mood for some early festive cheer. However, as November draws to a close investors will reflect on what has been a difficult month with falling oil prices and artificially inflated equities on the promise of more central bank intervention,” said Mike McCudden, head of derivatives at Interactive Investor in London.Crude oil for January delivery CLF5, -10.45%  extended a rout late in Friday’s session, dropping more than $6 to its lowest point in more than 4½ years. U.S. crude oil didn’t settle on Thursday due to Thanksgiving, but OPEC’s decision to maintain its current production ceiling of 30 million barrels a day does little to remove the glut that is keeping oil prices low.Among major stock movers, Exxon Mobil Corp. XOM, -4.17%  lost more than 4%, while fellow Dow component Chevron Corp. CVX, -5.42%  lost 5.4%.Among other energy shares, Transocean Ltd. RIG, -9.71%  sank 9.7%, ConocoPhillips COP, -6.72%  fell 6.7% and Halliburton Co. HAL, -10.86%  erased nearly 11% of its value. And it was a particularly brutal day for U.S. shale companies, with several posting double-digit percentage declines. In Europe, the picture was the same, with oil heavyweights such as BP PLC BP., -1.41% BP, -5.46%  and Total SA FP, -2.28% TOT, -6.88%  posting big losses..On the flip side, transportation companies were boosted by the prospect of lower energy prices. Delta Air Lines Inc. DAL, +5.49%  surged 5.5%, Southwest Airlines Co. LUV, +6.47%  rose 6.5% and Carnival Corp. CCL, +4.84%  added 4.8%.On a monthly basis, the Dow and S&P 500 each added 2.5% in November, while the Nasdaq added 3.5%. Leading up to the holiday, the S&P 500 SPX, -0.25%  and Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.00%  scored their 47th and 30th record closes this year, respectively, on Wednesday. Black Friday frenzy: Retailers were in the spotlight during early Friday, as shops opened the doors for their annual Black Friday sales (with some having opened late Thursday). Wal-Mart Stores Inc. WMT, +3.01% advanced 3%, Amazon.com AMZN, +1.52% rose 1.5% Macy’s Inc. M, +2.17%  added 2.2%, and Best Buy Co. BBY, +1.70%  advanced 1.7%. Wal-Mart reported early Friday that Thanksgiving Day delivered its second-highest online sales day ever, topped only by Cyber Monday last year.Other markets: European stocks were mired in the red, with energy companies pulling the major benchmarks lower. Asian markets closed mostly higher. Metals prices GCG5, -2.65%  showed weakness, hurt by a rise in the dollar DXY, +0.24%
