The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Friday at 9321.40 down 76.79 or 0.82% from Thursday's close of 9398. Of the 30 Dow Companies: 6 gained and 23 declined and one was unchanged (MRK Merck) with the biggest loser being BA Boeing $44.87 -1.75 3.75% 10,312,751 NYSE and the biggest gainer being BAC Bank of Am $17.39 +0.39 2.29% 296,828,316 NYSE.

The current divisor for the Dow found at today's page C4 of The Wall St. Jrnl is .132319125 unchanged.

Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing numerator was 1233.40 down 10.16 from Thursday's closing Dow numerator of 1243.56. This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor.

Now, if you divide the Dow numerator increase for today of 10.16 by the divisor you get 76.79, the increase in Thurssday's Dow close.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of Thursday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was 41.11 down 0.34 from Thursday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price of 41.45. The median closing price of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was 37.41 down 0.65 from Thursday's Dow Jones median closing price of 38.06.
