Dow Monitor Blog Thought for the Day: NYT pB6 has a story "Slate Repalces Newspaper Roundup With news Updates" that says Slate's "Today's Papers," one of the original aggregators of the Web, is being retired, 12 years after it started its "beloved once-a-day" summary of US front pages from newspapers. Jack Shafter, the media columnist for Slate, said that the news cycle has three parts: an overnight shift led by newspapers, a daytime phase when other news media entities react to the overnight news, and an afternoon phase when the days events break and are digest. Plotz said "The major newspapers still drive the news agenda."
