The Dow's biggest gainer was GE with a gain of 59 cents after it raised its quarterly dividend 17%, its second increase this year. Procter & Gamble rose 33 cents after Goldman Sachs upgraded its investment rating to buy from neutral.

Fin Times p14 "Genet tussle injects fresh vigour into health sector" by Hannah Kuchler says shares in Tenet soared after it rejected a bid from Community Health Systems while the rest of the US stock market continued to hover around 2 year highs.

Sat NYT pB8 "Indexes, riding positive signs, end week on up note" by Reuters says stocks rose on Fri helped by an encouraging report on the nation's balance of trade, with the S&P 500 stock index reaching its highest level since the week Lehman collapsed in '08. Industrial shares led the gainers, with GE up 3% after it raised its dividend for a 2nd time this year.

As of the close of the market Friday, the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page B6 of Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.132129493. The trailing P/E is 14.55 up from Friday's P/E of 14.50 (year ago it was 18.17); the P/E estimate is 13.34 up from Friday's 13.33 (year ago it was 16.19) and the dividend yield is 2.51 down from Friday's dividend yield of 2.65 (last year it was 2.67).
