The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Monday at 16449.25 up 40.71 or 0.25% from Thursday's close of 16408.54. Of the Dow components 17 gained and 13 declined. The biggest gainer dollar-wise was IBM up $2.26 and percentage-wise was Pfizer up 2.02%. The biggest decliner dollar-wise Disney down 88 cents and percentage-wise were Disney and UnitedHealth down 1.1%.
As of the open the market on Monday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page C4 of Monday's Wall St. Journal is 0.15571590501117. Monday's trailing P/E ratio is 16.15 unchanged from Thursday's opening trailing P/E ratio of 16.15 (last year it was 16.12). Monday's P/E estimate is 14.87 up from Thursday's opening estimate of 14.53 (year ago it was 13.15) and Monday's dividend yield is 2.19 up from Thursday's opening dividend yield of 2.17 (last year it was 2.45). The Dow's all-time high was 16,576.66 on December 31, 2013. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.
Monday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing numerator was 2561.41 up 6.34 from Thursday's closing numerator of 2555.07. This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor.
