Post No. 2,348 The following is brought to you by Intellivest Securities Research, Inc. Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a recent ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization and recent Dow 30 components' SEC filings.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Tuesday at 14833.96 up 23.65 or 0.16% from Friday's close of 14810.31. Of the Dow components 16 gained and 14 declined. The biggest gainer dollar-wise and percentage-wise was United Technologies up $2.56 or 2.56 % . The biggest decliner dollar-wise and percentage-wise was Microsoft down $1.52 or 4.55%.
As of the open of the market on Tuesday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page C4 of Tuesday's Wall St. Journal is 0.130216081. Tuesday's trailing P/E ratio is 15.45 down from Friday's opening trailing P/E ratio of 15.48 (last year it was 14.51); Tuesday's P/E estimate is 13.47 down from Friday's opening P/E estimate of 13.53 (year ago it was 12.42) and Tuesday's dividend yield is 2.54 up from Friday's opening dividend yield of 2.49 (last year it was 2.64). The median closing price of Tuesday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $66.75 (DIS/UNH) up 46 cents from Friday's median closing price of $66.29. MarketWatch 8/30/13 Fri. 4:18 pm by Kate Gibson U.S. stocks declined on Friday, with the Dow industrials and
S&P 500 recording their worst month since May 2012, as Wall Street
considered a possible U.S. strike against Syria.“The only variable that really matters is the possibility of a Syrian
intervention. A portion of the volatility we saw this week was certainly
related to news flow regarding the Middle East,” said Lawrence
Creatura, portfolio manager at Federated Investors.
‘Skeleton crews are manning the trading desks. I wouldn’t trust this week’s moves too much. It’s like a household when the parents are away, and teenagers are running the show.’

with the presidents of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, President
Barack Obama on Friday afternoon called the use of chemical weapons a
“challenge to the world.”The president’s words followed the release of
U.S. intelligence that
found the Syrian government to be behind a chemical attack that killed
1,429 people in a suburb of Damascus.“It’s really going to be dependent
upon what happens over the next few
days, if Obama can take enough of a break from the Labor Day holiday to
launch some rockets against Syria, then it becomes more interesting,”
said Robert Pavlik, chief market strategist at Banyan Partners LLC. In a
nationally televised statement Friday afternoon, U.S. Secretary of
State John Kerry condemned the “indiscriminate and inconceivable horror
of chemical weapons,” while outlining Washington’s case against the
Syrian government in a deadly attack in Syria last week. Major indexes
tallied weekly and monthly losses.“We’ve had a strong run this year and
we are entering a seasonally
treacherous time of year. Historically, Autumn and the months of
September and October specifically, can be treacherous and unforgiving,”
said Creatura.
