Post No. 3,100 The following is brought to you by Intellivest Securities Research, Inc. Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a   recent ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization  and a summary of recent Dow 30 components'  SEC filings.

A  read of the print editions of  Monday's Barron's & Investor's Business Daily, the combined Sat/Sun issues of the Wall Street Journal &  Financial Times; and Sunday's & Saturday's New York Times, USA Today &  Atlanta Journal & Constitution yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Friday's  closing   stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Friday at 18127.65 up 168.62 or 0.94%  from Thursday's close of 17959.03. For the week the Dow was up 378.34 or 2.13% from last Friday's close of 17749.31. For the year the Dow is up 1.71%. Of the Dow components 28  gained  and 2   declined. The  biggest gainer dollar-wise  and percentage-wise was Nike up $3.66 or 3.72%. The  biggest decliner dollar-wise and percentage-wise was  UnitedHealth down $1.62 or 1.34%.

IBD pB9 "Stock market uptrend resumes, but wall of worry still in place" by Paul Whitfield says Friday's action was up in strong vol while the current outlook is uptrend resumes.

WSJ pB5 "Nasdaq's close is highest in 15 years" by Corrie Driebusch says the Nasdaq Composite Index ended at its highest level in 15 years coming within 7 points of eclipsing a closing record that has stood since the last tech boom.

Sat. NYT pB3 "Oil prices push shares higher" by AP says stocks advanced Fri capping a strong week helped by a recovery in the price of oil and earnings from Darden and Nike.

FT p12 "Nike leaps on higher sales and orders despite currency headwinds" by Mamta Badkar, eric Platt says better than expected 3Q earnings and future orders lifted Nike Friday.  US stocks rallied as the dollar weakened.

As of the open of  the market on Monday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page B6 of Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.14985889030177.  Monday's trailing P/E   ratio is 16.55 up  from Friday's   trailing P/E ratio of 16.41 (last year it was 16.03).  Monday's P/E estimate is 16.30 down from Friday's P/E estimate of 16.67 (year ago it was 14.85) and  Monday's dividend yield is 2.24 down from  Friday's dividend yield of 2.26  (last year it was 2.18). The Dow's all-time high was 18288.63 on March 2,  2015. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average numerator is 2716.59.   This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.14985889030177) you get the change in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $6.67  change in the Dow Index.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of  Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $90.55.  The median closing price of  Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $84.64  (XOM/PG) up 74 cents from Thursday's median closing price of $83.90 (WMT/XOM).  The lowest volume was Travelers and the highest volume was Intel.

If  Friday morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have made_____ $ ($271,659).

3/20/15 Fri. 4:44 pm MarketWatch by Victor Reklaitis & Sara Sjolin says U.S. stocks finished higher Friday, rebounding from the prior session’s drop and scoring strong gains for the week.
