Post No. 3,102 The following is brought to you by Intellivest Securities Research, Inc. Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a   recent ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization  as of 3/22/15 and a summary of recent Dow 30 components'  SEC filings as of 3/22/15.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed Monday at 18116.04 down 11.61 or 0.06%  from Friday's close of 18127.65. Of the Dow components 12  gained  and  18  declined. The  biggest gainer dollar-wise  was IBM and percentage-wise was Pfizer up 2.34%. The  biggest decliner dollar-wise was Boeing down $1.69 and percentage-wise was  Home Depot down 1.21%.

As of the open of  the market on Monday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page C4 of Monday's Wall St. Journal is 0.14985889030177.  Monday's trailing P/E   ratio is 16.55 up  from Friday's   trailing P/E ratio of 16.41 (last year it was 16.03).  Monday's P/E estimate is 16.30 down from Friday's P/E estimate of 16.67 (year ago it was 14.85) and  Monday's dividend yield is 2.24 down from  Friday's dividend yield of 2.26  (last year it was 2.18). The Dow's all-time high was 18288.63 on March 2,  2015. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $6.67  change in the Dow Index.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of  Monday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $90.49 down 6 cents from Friday's closing average of $90.55.  The median closing price of  Monday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $84.64  (XOM/PG) up 74 cents from Friday's median closing price of $84.64 (XOM/PG).  The lowest volume was Travelers and the highest volume was Intel.

3/23/15 Mon. 5:27 pm MarketWatch by Anora Mahmudova & Sara Sjolin says U.S. stocks erased modest gains in the last 15 minutes of trading, finishing slightly lower on Monday.
Some market watchers attributed recent volatility in stocks to fluctuations in the currency markets, where the surge in the dollar raised concerns over profitability of multinational corporations. Monday’s pullback in the dollar failed to provide support to stocks, however.Despite the reversal, Monday’s moves were fairly tepid compared with volatile swings last week, when the Federal Reserve signaled that the first interest-rate hikes may come as soon as June. Even though the central bank dropped its reference to being “patient”, markets took the statement and the following news conference by Chairwoman Janet Yellen as dovish. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.17%  ended the session 3.68 points, or 0.2%, lower at 2,104.42, with four out of its main 10 sectors closing lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.06%  finished 11.61 points, or 0.1%, lower at 18,116.04, with more than half of its 30 components ending with losses. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.31%  closed 15.44 points, or 0.3%, lower at 5,010.97, as biotechnology stocks led the losses. The iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF IBB, -0.36%   fell 2.3%.Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Rockwell Global Capital, said that the market felt the pressure from transportation stocks, which sold off on Monday.Indeed, the Dow Transportation Average DJT, -1.96%  dropped 2% on Monday, led by a 8% drop in Kansas City Southern KSU, +0.05%
“Markets are technically driven at this point and a selloff in the transportation average may have pushed stocks lower,” Cardillo said.Arthur Hogan, chief market strategist at Wunderlich Securities, said the Fed put the markets on data watch. “Investors will be focusing on economic data, especially the PCE component of the fourth-quarter GDP revision this week, as the Fed made it clear it would remain flexible and data-dependent,” Hogan said.
