Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization as of April 1, 2013 and recent Dow 30 components' SEC filings as of April 1, 2013.

A read of the print editions of Monday's Barron's and Investor's Business Daily; the combined Sat/Sun issues of each of the Wall St. Journal & Financial Times; & Sunday's & Saturday's New York Times & Atlanta Journal Constitution yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Friday's stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

Sat. WSJ pB6 "Reversal helps Blue Chips gaing round for the week" by Kaitlyn Kiernana says US tocks taded in negative territoryfor most fo the dy Fri before paring losses late in the session to finish the week with strong gains. Sat NYT pB7 "Gloom in commodities amrkets ends a rally" by AP says a 4 day rally in the stock market came to an end Fri as signs of a slowinge conomy rattled commodity markets, weighing down energy & mining companies.

FT p11 "Gains from fin'ls fail to offset poor economic data" by Arash Massoudi says a batch of poor economic data sparked a mild retreat on Wall St Fri even as JPMorgn and Wells Fargo reported strong quarterly results, capping off a week marked by otherwise robust gains with losses. JPMorgan beat analysts' earnings forecast for 1Q. Hewlett-Packard dropped 4.9% after its Chiar stepped dwon.

As of the close of the market on Friday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page B5 of Saturday's Wall St. Journal is 0.130216081. Friday's closing trailing P/E ratio is 16.28 unchanged from Friday's opening P/E ratio of 16.28 (year ago it was 14.43); Friday's closing P/E estimate is 13.05 unchanged from Friday' s opening P/E estimate of 13.05 (year ago it was 12.45) and Friday's closing dividend yield is 2.40 unchanged from Friday's opening dividend yield of 2.40 (last year it was 2.52). The Dow's all-time high was 14,865.14 on April 11, 2013. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.

Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing numerator was 1,935.67 down 0.01 from Thursday's closing numerator of 1,935.68. This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.130216081) you get the change in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $7.68 change in the Dow Index.

The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $64.52cents uunchanged from Thursday's average of $64.52. The median closing price of Friday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $61.76 (DIS/UNH) up 1 cent from Thursday's median closing price of $61.75. The lowest volume was Travelers and the highest volume again was Bank of America.

If Friday morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have broken even ($193,568 - $193,568).

4/12/13 Friday 4:11 pm MarketWatch by Kate Gibson says U.S. stocks finished fractionally lower Friday to break a streak of record-setting-high days as they pared steep losses following weak retail sales and consumer confidence data earlier in the session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.08 point to close at 14,865.06. The S&P 500 shed 4.52 points, or 0.3%, to close at 1,588.85, with energy and materials stocks dragging the most.
