Toward the end of this Blog is a list of the Dow 30 current CEOs, and a ranking of the Dow 30 components by market capitalization as of April 1, 2013 and recent Dow 30 components' SEC filings as of April 1, 2013.
A read of the print editions of Friday's Wall St. Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Investor's Business Daily, USA Today, Atlanta Journal Constitution and Daily Report (Ga. - carries Bloomberg) yielded the following stories about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 component companies and the Dow with stories about the Dow aggregated first and then items about Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 companies presented alphabetically, followed by a separate table of Dow component's symbol and Thursday's stock prices and related data in alphabetical order.

WSJ pC4 "Japan's move stimulates stocks" by Chris Dieterich says aggressive new stimulus measures from japan's central lifted stocks & offset a downbeat report from the US labor market. AT&T which will sell the first Facebook themed smartphone made by HTC rose 63 cents.
NYT pB9 "With pep talks coming from central banks the markets make most gains" by Reuters says stocks ended higher Turs after the Bank of Japan announced aggressive policies to lift its economy but weak jobs data in the US capped gains.
IBD pB2 "Stocks post small gains 2 leaders trip sell rule" by Paul Whitfield says stocks traded quietly in a narrow range Thurs as the indexes held above their 50 day moving averages as the action was up in lower vol and the current outlook is uptrend under pressure.
FT p24 "Samsung tie up sends investors on Best Buy shopping spree" by Anora Mahmudova says US equity markets recaptured gains after investors weighed disappointing jobless data that showed first time unemployment claims rose unexpectedly last week.
AJC pA11 "Dow gets back on track" by AP says stocks gained thurs as investors took advantage of a slump a day earlier to get back into the market at lower prices.
As of the open of the market on Friday the current divisor for the Dow Jones Industrial Average found at page C5 of today's Wall St. Journal is 0.130216081. Friday's trailing P/E ratio is 15.92 down from yesterday's P/E ratio of 16.07 (year ago it was 14.62); today's P/E estimate is 12.95 unchanged from Thursday' s P/E estimate of 12.95 (year ago it was 12.63) and today's closing dividend yield is 2.43 down from yesterday's dividend yield of 2.45 (last year it was 2.51). The Dow's all-time high was 14,622.01 on April 2, 2013. The 12 year low close for the Dow was on March 9, 2009 when it fell to 6,547.05.
Thursday's Dow Jones Industrial Average closing numerator was 1,901.95 up 7.26 from Wednesday's closing numerator of 1,894.69. This is the sum of all 30 closing prices. A short cut to the Dow numerator is to multiply the closing Dow by the Divisor. Now, if you divide the Dow numerator change for today by the divisor (0.130216081) you get the change in today's Dow. A dollar increase or decrease in a Dow stock results in a $7.68 change in the Dow Index.
The average closing price (the closing numerator divided by 30) of Thursday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $63.40 up 34 cents from Wednesday's average of $63.16. The median closing price of Thursday's Dow Jones Industrial Average was $59.78 (DIS/UNH) up 30 cents from Wednesday's median closing price of $59.48. The lowest volume was Travelers and the highest volume again was Bank of America.
If Thursday morning before the market opened you had purchased 100 shares of each of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 30 shares (assuming you could buy fractional shares and assuming no transaction costs or dividends) and sold at the close you would have made $726 ($190,195 - $189,46).
4/4/13 Thursday 4:03 pm MarketWatch by Kate Gibson says U.S. stocks resumed an advance Thursday as cheer over Japan's monetary stimulus overcame resistance that came as U.S. jobless claims climbed to a four-month high. "In the global sense, don't fight the Fed," said Tim Leach, chief investment officer of the private client reserve of U.S. Bank Wealth Management, referring to the Bank of Japan's announcement of aggressive easing measures, which comes along with similar moves by central banks in the United States and Europe. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA +0.38% was up 55.76 points, or 0.4%, to 14,606.11. The S&P 500 SPX +0.40% rose 6.29 points, or 0.4%, to 1,559.98. The Nasdaq Composite /COMP +0.20% gained 6.38 points, or 0.2%, to 3,224.98.
